Scott McNair
President
Scott McNair is a founding member of GBYF. Graduating from Gold Beach High School in 2001 and Oregon State University in 2007, Scott returned home to Gold Beach after college to join and help grow the family businesses.
Scott has always been an advocate for the Central Curry School District and is currently serving his 3rd consecutive term as an elected Central Curry School District Board Member.
Scott and his wife Maggie are raising their three daughters in the Central Curry School District and proudly call Gold Beach home. Their collective dedication and volunteer work for positive impacts and the betterment of the Gold Beach community is ingrained in their daily lives.
Scott feels fortunate to commit time and resources as an active community volunteer and his objective is to create a vibrant and nurturing environment for youth to thrive.
Kyle Ringer
Treasurer
Kyle Ringer has served on the GBYF board since 2016. A graduate of Gold Beach High School, Kyle spent a year overseas in South Africa on a Rotary International Youth Exchange before returning to Oregon where he received his BS in Horticulture from Oregon State University and his MBA from Willamette University.
Kyle ventured into corporate waters post-graduate school, working as a market analyst and sales manager for a Fortune 500 aerospace company. In 2009, he returned to Gold Beach to pursue his dream of entrepreneurship and spent nearly 15 years as owner/operator of an award-winning hospitality property.
Kyle has served as a volunteer coach and is an avid Beaver fan. He enjoys jet-setting to all corners of the globe to enhance his own learning experience, spending time as “fun-cle” to his nephews and nieces and digging in the dirt with his side-kick chocolate lab, Koa.
Kyle’s talented mind has been instrumental in strategic planning, fundraising, and operations for GBYF.
Vera-Anne Wallace
Director
Vera-Anne Wallace has been a GBYF board member since 2016. Vera is a trusted name in the real estate industry and a local entrepreneur with extensive experience in marketing.
Vera-Anne has been prominently involved in the Central Curry School District and the local community as a dedicated volunteer. She has held various positions locally including PTO, Gold Beach Soccer, Little League President, Boy Scout Den Mother, 4H, Competitive Cheer, Senior Project Graduation, Pistol River Fire Department, and currently sits on multiple boards including the Central Curry School District Budget Committee, Gold Beach Youth Foundation, and Gold Beach Fireworks Committee.
Her passion for helping others extends beyond just real estate transactions – she believes in making a difference where it matters most. Vera-Anne has made it a priority to contribute positively to the development and growth of youth in her community.
Jeremy Skinner
Vice President
Jeremy Skinner is one of the founding board members of GBYF. He has a BA in history from Lewis & Clark College, an MA in history from Portland State University, and a MS in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington.
Jeremy has worked in both academic and public libraries, including thirteen years as a rare books and manuscripts librarian, and ten years as the director of Curry Public Library in Gold Beach.
He is an active volunteer member and leader of organizations across the state. He currently serves as a member of the Oregon Community Foundation South Coast Leadership Council, co-chair of the Legislative Committee for the Oregon Library Association, chair of the Gold Beach Community Fund, secretary for the Gold Beach Rotary Club, and Chair of the South Coast Early Learning Hub.
Jeremy was recognized by the Oregon Library Association in 2019 as “Librarian of the Year.” Jeremy’s goal for all of his work is to enhance the education and civic engagement of residents of Oregon’s South Coast.
Kathy Shindler
Secretary
Kathy Shindler has served on the GBYF board since 2015. She has lived in Gold Beach since 1980, raising her family here and enjoying a 35-year career as IT manager for an international manufacturing organization.
Some of her volunteer activities over the years include helping develop the TAG program for the Central Curry School District, being active with kindergarten and high school testing, post-high school counseling and scholarship review committees. She was active in sports support with baseball, wrestling, band and science club during her children’s school years. She graduated from Stanford University as a Physician’s Assistant, trained as an EMT, volunteered with Search and Rescue and taught CPR and First Aid classes from grade school level through medical professional recertification.
Her objective is to enhance the opportunities for Central Curry students and their families in education, sports and extra-curricular activities and quality of life through the GBYF.
Tyrel Wardle
Director
Tyrel Wardle was appointed to the GBYF board in 2016. Graduating from GBHS in 1999, he attended Western Oregon University before deciding to serve a mission for the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Melbourne, Australia from 2001-2003 where the importance of community, service and hard work was reinforced to what he had already learned. Returning home to Oregon he carried out a childhood dream of playing collegiate basketball and earned a position on the team at Lane Community College.
In 2004 Ty calls it the best choice of his life when he married fellow Gold Beach native Ashley Hale, together they began a new chapter. Ty transferred to the University of Oregon and earned a BA in History in 2006. Ty and Ashley moved back to Gold Beach when an opportunity arose for Ty to pursue a career with a rapidly growing company.
Ty and Ashley both are active in the community as they raise their three children and feel blessed to call Gold Beach home. Currently, Ty enjoys being the head coach of the varsity boys basketball team and volunteers with many groups including youth basketball programs and Gold Beach Main Street. His main objective is to leave things better for the youth of Gold Beach and spread the word that all people have to do to become successful is roll up their sleeves and go to work.
